May 29, 2023 – The Western Milk Pool (WMP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nolan Berg BSc. Ag., MBA, P.Ag. as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the WMP effective Monday, June 5, 2023. Nolan’s appointment follows an extensive selection process that considered exceptional internal and external candidates.
Nolan Berg is a seasoned agribusiness leader with a track record of building teams, transforming organizations to fully realize their potential and delivering results. He brings over 30 years of experience working for and consulting to a broad range of organizations across Canada, the U.S., and overseas. Nolan’s experience spans multiple sectors including agriculture, agrifood, ag biotech, financial services, construction, heavy equipment, international development and airlines.
WMP Board Chair Henry Holtmann says: “What really impressed the WMP Board is Nolan’s extensive experience with the agricultural industry and his impressive track record of building organizations in a fast-changing environment using an extremely collaborative approach.” Holtmann adds, “Nolan brings important leadership to the operational management of WMP, particularly as we navigate through the important next steps of our future state planning which will demand transparency, clear communication, and trust.”
When commenting on his approach, Berg says: “I’m wired to listen, learn, and engage with a relentless focus on collaboration.” He adds: “The WMP’s vision is to be ‘better together for Canadian dairy’ and we will achieve that through the continued engagement with dairy farmers and the active collaboration with our provincial and national industry partners…I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to lead the transformation of the Western Milk Pool to achieve the goal of providing a more organized, unified voice for western dairy farmers.”
Nolan holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. Nolan holds the P.Ag. Professional Agrologist designation.
