Yes, there are designated transport trucks for organic milk in Alberta. Conventional milk does not get co-mingled with organic milk in the trucks or at the processing plant; they are separated all the way through the chain. Both the hauler and the plant also have to be certified to ensure that the co-mingling does not happen

Our trucks have specific routes they take, so it’s nearly impossible for them to stop at a farm that isn’t on their route. If conventional milk is accidentally co-mingled with organic milk, the load must be marketed as conventional milk only. The cleaning and sanitization is done in accordance with organic standards.
