|1/4 cup||(60 ml)||35% whipping cream|
|2 tbsp||(30 ml)||brown sugar|
|1 tsp||(5 ml)||cinnamon|
|1 tsp||(5 ml)||vanilla extract|
|1/2 tsp||(2 ml)||salt, approximately|
|12 slices||whole wheat bread (day old)|
|1/4 cup||(60 ml)||butter|
- Cut each bread slice into 4 sticks; set aside. Whisk milk with cream, eggs, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt in a shallow dish.
- Melt half the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Dip bread sticks in batches and add to skillet; cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until golden brown adding remaining butter as necessary.
- Hold prepared French toast sticks in a warm oven 200°F (100°C) until ready to serve. Serve with maple syrup.
