Green Granny Pancakes

Ingredients

2 cups (500 ml) milk
2 tbsp (25 ml) lemon juice
2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
2 tbsp (25 ml) granulated sugar
1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
1 tsp (5 ml) baking soda
1/4 tsp (1 ml) nutmeg
1 tsp (5 ml) cinnamon
2 (large) eggs
3 tbsp (45 ml) melted butter
2 (medium) apples, peeled and thinly sliced
butter and maple syrup for serving

Directions

  1. To sour milk, mix with lemon juice.
  2. Combine dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Whisk eggs, melted butter and soured milk in a medium bowl. Add to flour mixture with the apples.
  4. Lightly grease a large frying pan and heat over medium heat. Place 1⁄4 cup of mixture into hot pan. Cook until bubbles start to appear on the top of the pancakes. Flip and cook for 2 minutes or until golden.
  5. Serve hot topped with butter and maple syrup if desired.
