Bring your family and friends to enjoy a free breakfast served by local dairy farmers! Enjoy a firsthand experience about what life on a dairy farm is all about.
Located near Foremost, KingsLake Hutterite Colony is hosting this year’s breakfast. Did you know about 25%, or 200 million litres of milk, come from Hutterite colonies from across the province? Hutterite colonies are where groups of families live together and work towards a common goal. Faith and working together is a fundamental part of their daily life. From decision making to getting the hands-on work done, Kingslake Colony makes everything a group effort, or one big family.
Joe Waldner is the dairy boss. He manages all things dairy and works with his son to ensure everything goes smoothly and they produce high quality, Canadian milk. He and his wife have five children and many grandkids. Although his one son Jesse primarily helps in the dairy, the others all still help where they can. They milk about 160 cows, which is the average in Alberta, and the cows enjoy a free stall barn where they roam freely.
