The sodium in milk is naturally-occurring and is present in small amounts. One cup of milk (250 ml) contains approximately 120 mg of sodium. This is less than 5% of the daily value for sodium (%DV).
What is the % Daily Value?
- It represents how much of nutrient is contained in that food.
- It can help you determine if there is a little or a lot of a nutrient in that food.
Because many Canadians get too much sodium, Health Canada advises that we choose foods with a DV of 5 or lower. As the DV for milk is 5, there is no need to be concerned about the sodium content of milk.
