Ingredients

1 cup (250 ml) 3% whole or 2% milk
1 cup (250 ml) water
2-3 tbsp (30 - 45 ml) sugar, to taste
1-3 cardamom pods
2 cloves
1-2 inch cinnamon stick
1 black tea bag

Directions

  1. Using a mortar and pestle or end of a rolling pin, mash cardamom, cloves and cinnamon into a bowl and add this mixture into a pot with water, tea bag and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Once the pot is boiling, add the milk. Allow tea to come to a boil again and remove from the heat.
  3. Using a tea strainer, pour chai into 2 mugs.
