Greek yogurt is this month’s everyday superfood. As you may know, Greek yogurt is high in protein and is now a common item on many people’s grocery lists. It is great for breakfast but how do you incorporate into other meals, like dinner?
Finding a recipe for pizza dough made with equal parts of self-rising flour and Greek yogurt did the trick. It sounded too good to be true, but curiosity got the better of me and I tried it out. Surprisingly, mixing the two ingredients together did make a dough.
Instead of buying self-rising flour I made it using regular flour, baking soda and salt. The dough was quite sticky so using a bit more flour on top to press it out into the pizza pan helped. Baking the crust a bit before adding any toppings ensures the center of the pizza does not come out under cooked. You can add any toppings you’d like.
In this version caramelized onions, brie cheese and a finishing touch of balsamic glaze made a delicious combination. Overall, the dough didn’t have that crispiness or sweetness that most other pizza dough have, but it did work well in a pinch. This will become a quick pizza recipe that I will be able to easily throw together on any busy weeknight or to satisfy any pizza cravings!
