Beet pulp is fed on some farms.  The pulp pellets or mash is a by product of processing sugar beets. Beet pulp has a high amount of digestible fibre which makes it a good source of feed for dairy cows.

Alberta has one sugar beet processing plant in Taber to process the locally grown sugar beets. Alberta farmers  grow about 675,000-728,000 tonnes of sugar beets on 26,000- 28,000 acres.
