None of our local dairy processors make milk in glass bottles. That’s not saying that you may not find it at specialty stores, but the milk will not processed in Alberta. Rest assured it will come from Canada!

Why?

There are a few reasons why glass is not the preferred container for fluid milk.

  • Transportation. Glass is both fragile and heavy compared to the alternatives. Both of these things cause challenges in getting the milk from the processor to the grocery store.
  • Uneconomical. The glass takes a lot more energy to make, so it’s also more expensive. They are also required to be sanitized after use, which required more energy and time.
